The Maker
I'm Matt, and I set up Head Bone Leather in 2024 from my workshop just outside Exeter, Devon.
I've been making things with my hands nearly all my life, but leatherwork holds a special place. There's a quiet satisfaction in taking raw materials and transforming them — piece by piece — into something beautiful and functional. Something that will outlast trends and fast fashion by decades.
I share my workshop with Maddie, my lively black Labrador, who somehow manages to calm down the moment I sit at my bench. Though she does remind me — with a gentle paw on the knee — that playtime is never too far away.

Every item in my shop is made to order. That means when you place an order, I get to work specifically for you — your details on my workbench, your piece carefully put together from scratch.
It might mean waiting a few extra days, but the moment you open the packaging and get that first hit of full-grain leather — the softness, the craftsmanship, the smell — you'll know it was worth it. My customers tell me so, every time.
